John Wright’s work is concerned with a sense of isolation or alienation from those around us, which he considers to be “the universal dilemma of human existence.” This sense of isolation is something John has grappled with from an early age, and he gives form to this sense of separation in his work.
John hopes that this work holds up a mirror for those who identify with it. “To shine a light on their perception and perhaps, hopefully, allow them, however fleetingly, to find a way to transcend it. Hopefully through recognising it in themselves, those who feel it will begin to question its validity and find a path to liberating themselves from it.”
Sharing his work alleviates John from his own sense of isolation, as he believes that isolation and creativity are intrinsically linked. He believes that creations are not born of vanity, they’re born of a longing to communicate. With anyone.
